While it may be tempting to snap a few pics for Instagram or tweet about your amazing holiday, sometimes taking a digital detox can be one of the best stress-relievers for your time away.
A study by BankMyCell found that one in five travellers pick up their phone six to ten times per hour, with 47% of tourists admitting that they regret overusing their smartphone on holiday. A recent article in the Telegraph suggests that using technology on holiday can reduce sleep quality and increase the chances of anxiety and depression when you return home. In the same article, another study implies if you leave your phone at home, you’ll be more likely to spend time outdoors and in nature which in itself can improve your mood in the long term.
